The Joint Laboratory will gather high-end talents and collaborate with world-class research teams to explore the frontiers of intelligent materials and green electrochemistry, making important contributions to China's and the global intelligent materials and green electrochemistry endeavors.

Nobel Prize in Physics winner, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and foreign director of the Joint Laboratory, Kostya Novoselov, Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Chen Xiaoming, foreign academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and GDUT President Qiu Xueqing, Australian Academy of Sciences academician and Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering academician Zhao Huijun, GDUT Vice President Yu Lin, Wenzhou University Vice President Wang Shun, GDUT Sustainable Innovation Technology Research Institute Director and Chinese director of the Joint Laboratory Zhang Shanqing, as well as main responsible persons from GDUT's International Cooperation and Exchange Office and School of Light Industry and Chemical Engineering, and more than 200 experts and scholars from domestic and international renowned institutions such as the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, University of Technology Sydney, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Dalian University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, and South China University of Technology, along with online guests, attended the conference to witness the launch of the Joint Laboratory.

"Sustainable development has become an urgent need for the community of human destiny, and research in intelligent materials and green electrochemistry is playing a crucial role." Qiu Xueqing pointed out that the launch of the Joint Laboratory marks a new stage in GDUT's research in intelligent materials and green electrochemistry, and under the joint efforts of all outstanding scientists and researchers, the Joint Laboratory will certainly achieve fruitful scientific research results. The university will also take this as an opportunity to further increase investments in intelligent materials and green electrochemistry, strengthen discipline construction and talent team building, and contribute GDUT's strength to sustainable development.

Kostya Novoselov stated that establishing the Joint Laboratory at GDUT is an important step in conducting exchanges and cooperation, and it will serve as an innovation and research center, bringing together professional knowledge and resources from different institutions. He hopes that through the Joint Laboratory, frontier research in intelligent materials and green electrochemistry can be conducted, more extensive and close cooperation with GDUT can be carried out, more excellent researchers can be trained, and the application and transformation of research results can be continuously promoted.

Amid the joint witnessing and warm applause of the attendees, Qiu Xueqing and Kostya Novoselov, among others, unveiled the "Guangdong University of Technology Nobel Prize Winner Konstantin Joint Laboratory". It is understood that the Joint Laboratory is one of GDUT's key international laboratories, which will collaborate with world-class research teams to cultivate a group of high-quality research talents with international vision and innovation capabilities, strengthen cooperation with enterprises, and promote the transformation of scientific research results from the laboratory to the market. The Joint Laboratory has now completed construction and recruited PhD and master's students, published research results in international top academic journals such as "PNAS" and "Advanced Science", and conducted relevant cooperation with international top universities including the National University of Singapore, the University of Queensland, and Griffith University.

After the ceremony, Kostya Novoselov delivered an excellent report titled "Materials for the future", sharing with attendees the latest developments in intelligent two-dimensional materials in various fields.

From December 21 to 22, the Second International Conference on Intelligent Materials and Green Electrochemistry, hosted by GDUT, was held concurrently, where experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sun Yat-sen University, National University of Singapore, Wenzhou University, and other universities delivered reports on topics such as the development of new intelligent materials and innovations in green electrochemical processes, contributing wisdom to research in intelligent materials and green electrochemistry in China.
