Associate Professor Luo Hongsheng from our School addressed issues related to the standardization of chemical engineering laboratory operations by constructing a backpropagation neural network and optimizing weight matrices to achieve multidimensional evaluation of complex process workflows. The submitted project “Chemical Engineering Experimental Operation Evaluator” ranked in the top 15% among 394 participating teams nationwide after multiple rounds of evaluation, and ultimately received the “Innovation Pioneer Award”.
The First National Chemical Industry AI Application Innovation Competition targeted chemical enterprises, research institutes, and universities, focusing on AI applications in the chemical industry and evaluating its impact in safety, sustainability, cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and quality enhancement. The competition lasted six months and was successfully held in December 2024. The competition was guided by the Teaching Steering Committee of Chemical Engineering Specialty in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education and organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. Co-organizers included Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chemical Talent Service Center.
