From October 13 to 15, 2025, the Grand Final and related events of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025) were held at Zhengzhou University. The project “Shaping the Future — Internationally Leading Special Engineering Plastic GO-PTFE” from the School of Chemical Engineering and Light Industry was shortlisted for the on-site competition in the Graduate Entrepreneurship Group of the Main Track for Higher Education. The team ultimately won the Gold Award with a second-place ranking in its group, achieving the School’s best-ever result in the Main Track for Higher Education. This also marked the School’s fourth Gold Award following its previous victories in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Since the preparation phase began, the University leadership and the Student Affairs Department attached great importance to the cultivation and development of the competition project. Chen Zhuowu, Deputy Secretary of thePartyCommittee of the University, visited the competition venue in person to offer guidance and encouragement, motivating the team members to strive for excellence and achieve even greater success. The Student Affairs Department organized multiple rounds of project refinement, providing comprehensive and meticulous guidance and support throughout the entire process. A strong logistical support system was also established, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the overall competitiveness of the teams.

During the preparation period, the School closely followed the project development process and efficiently integrated high-quality internal and external resources. Multiple rounds of online and offline expert guidance sessions, presentation revision workshops, and pitch simulation training programs were organized to comprehensively improve project quality and the team’s practical competence. The School leadership also visited the preparation site to extend their care and encouragement to participating teachers and students, urging them to remain composed and confident and to fully demonstrate the innovative spirit of GDUT students in chemical engineering and light industry.

Under the dedicated guidance of the University and School leadership as well as faculty members, the students moved forward with determination, achieving coordinated improvement in knowledge, practical skills, and overall competence. Their outstanding performance not only lived up to the expectations of the University and the School, but also embodied the School motto of “Cultivating Virtue and Wisdom, Advocating Engineering Practice and Diligence”.

Looking ahead, the School will remain committed to its fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, systematically summarize competition experience, deepen Industry–University–Research Collaborative Innovation, and further leverage its disciplinary strengths. The School will continue exploring diversified collaborative education models, encouraging students to serve national strategic needs with innovative thinking and contributing the wisdom and strength of faculty members and students to the University’s Double First-Class Initiative.
